| The entrance of this restaurant is actually on a side street called Pinter Utca, and I must admit the area was a bit scary after dark as it's not very well lit and was on the quiet side. Still, the trip to this restaurant didn't turn out to be "fatal"! Wooden decor, lively and young crowd, coupled with generous portions of food, makes this place an enjoyable evening out. Make sure you leave enough space in the stomach to try out the huge desserts! | |||||

| Possibly the most expensive (and supposedly the best) restaurant in Budapest, and when I was there back in 1996 the dinner worked out to be well over £50/US$75 per person. It's nice to spend a hot summer evening in the garden terrace drinking the aperitif before indulging in the Hungarian haute-cuisine in a beautiful dining room. Food is reasonable---- after all, this is more for the experience than a gourmet meal. The Gundel pancake, supposedly their most famous and delicious dessert, did not really impress my taste buds that much. | |||||
