| A cheap and cheerful place serving excellent Chinese noodles---- good consistency and texture. The wantons may be a bit on the small size but nevertheless tasty; just wish they are a bit more generous with the quantity. | |||||

| One of the top restaurants in New York City - there are some very innovative dishes here, with unusual combinations of ingredients. The food is cooked to perfection and beautifully presented, and the sauces are not too heavy. However, the combinations of ingredients don't always work well together. The service was so-so for a restaurant of this standard. The place is a bit too cramped, making it a bit noisier than I would have liked. Also I was unfortunate enough to have visited this place on a hot summer day, and the restaurant air-con was really not strong enough, making it a rather sweaty and unpleasant meal (stupid rule dictates that I had to keep my jacket on!). | |||||

| Can't quite make out what they serve here but I think they call this nostalgic food. Not that it really matters as it serves simple but delicious food in large portions. Try their vegetarian salad which you can choose up to 3 different veggie dishes, or their grilled chicken, or the meatloaf. | |||||

| I would never expect a celebrity restaurant inside a train station to make it to my Cool Eating Out Guide, but how wrong can I be? Michael Jordan's Steak House is a pleasant surprise. Failing to secure a table at Peter Luger (or simply can't be bothered to go all the way to Brooklyn), this is a good alternative. In addition, the location is ace---- overlooking the famous concourse in Grand Central. Apart from the obvious choice of steak, don't miss the starters such as their asparagus or bone marrow salad. Even the cocktails are worth a mention. Too bad the steak are so huge that there is no space in the stomach for desserts. | |||||

| Palm is now a chain steak-house in the US, but this is the original one (There's also Palm Too across the street). The walls were decorated with cartoons and caricatures of famous visitors and celebrities. Service was good, with attentive but typically loud Italian waiters. Food-wise, the steak came in large portions but the flavour was a little disappointing - the meat was a little on the dry side. Go for the filet mignon instead of the aged New York strip. | |||||
