| A very busy Jewish restaurant situated in the posh 17th arrondissement. My advice: don't eat breakfast, go there for lunch and you can forget about dinner afterwards! The food can be rather heavy and it might cause some indigestion to even the most experienced foodies (certainly I had some problems!). Nevertheless the dishes are all delicious. If you can't make up your mind or you don’t know what to order, try the selection of starters and main courses, and you get to try a bit of everything (maybe that's why I ended up feeling so full!) | |||||

| The cheaper version of the famous Dome seafood restaurant in Montparnasse. The majority of the dishes are seafood (that's one main reason for coming here really). The food is fresh and carefully prepared. Well worth coming if you don't want to or can't afford the proper Dome prices, even though it's still not exactly cheap here. | |||||

| There are several Bistro de l'Etoile in Paris, all owned by 2-Michelin-Star chef Guy Savoy. The price here is more reasonable than the main restaurants but the food is just as good. The menu changes regularly but I have never been disappointed at each visit! Booking is essential to guarantee a table. | |||||

| Although this is no longer the place to see and be seen (Cafe Marly at the Louvre seems to be the successor of this place, but the quality at Marly is pretty dire), this cafe facing the Pompidou Centre remains popular--- location-wise it's perfectly sandwiched between Les Halles and Le Marais. Standard is getting more variable than it was years ago, but I can still spend a whole lazy Sunday afternoon at this place reading my paper and enjoying the Sunday brunch--- people-watching is part of the fun here and it can be addictive! | |||||

| Contrary to what the name suggests, this restaurant does not specialise in caviar, nor is it very expensive. There are several set menus, offering a good choice of dishes at excellent prices. I had a 2-course set menu, which consisted of a salad of gesiers de canard confit, followed by the classic canard a l'orange (OK, I do like ducks!). | |||||
