| If the restaurant is good enough for a Chinese Emperor (Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty used to dine here), then it's good enough for me. Songlehou is the most famous restaurant in Suzhou and the food is absolutely delicious here. The prawns stir-fried in green tea leaves (biluochun, or green snail spring) was fresh and tasty, but the winning dish has to be the cherry pork - there is no cherry in the dish, but the name describes the cherry colour of the sauce, which forms the basis for this dish made up of belly of pork. Totally unhealthy with all that fat, but the taste is simply divine! | |||||
